Running

Some people are very devoted to it

Some hate it.

Some people run to escape something

Some people run to something

Some run in groups

Some alone.

Some with even a dog

Some people do it for mental health

Some people do it to get in shape

Some to raise money

Me – I am all of the above but sometimes none at all-

I just get- r -done!

Nothing in Particular

I have no subject just a basic rambling of a Wednesday afternoon........(why is it spelled that way but the "d" is silent? Pronounced "Winsday")

I look out my office window waiting to hop into my car, drop the top and take off for home. It's a nice day outside and I am aching to be out there. I rode my motorcycle in to the office yesterday and vow to ride more often to work to save gas and plus it's exhilarating in the morning when there is no traffic on the highway and the wind hits my body and face as I merge onto 285. Going home is a nightmare - stop and go traffic on the highway and my clutch hand is aching when I get home. Maybe I'll take the back roads in the afternoon.

As soon as I get home I am changing into my running clothes and going for a long run. I am tired today so I know it's going to be a battle to make myself get out there. But, once out and listening to my headphones I will be fine. I will come back from the run, drink some water and do push-ups and sit-ups even though I know that no matter how many I do or how little I do I will still look the same. I often just pretend that isn't so.

After that I will make dinner which will be a leftover steak I grilled on Monday cut up on a salad. It seems these days I cannot get enough of salad and red meat. I will drink a few beers and try to watch a little tv but I will be tired and will go off to bed early missing B's text messages and calls until I see them in the morning when I get up to feed the cats and pour myself a cup of coffee. And, it will be Thursday and the next thing I know the weekend.

I have friends coming into town for the weekend and I am sure it will be lively!

London

Basically, the trip was great! We saw so many things and below I have a handful of things we saw (but, not all) along with a little synopsis of each.
We climbed to the top of St. Pauls cathedral - all 482 steps to the very top! What was funny was that on the way up on our climb to the top there was little benches that you could sit down and rest with a sign above it saying "NO SMOKING". Like one would even be tempted to light up as they're gasping up 482 steps! Above is a pic of St. Paul in the distance with Millennium bridge in the foreground.

We went to the Tate Modern museum. Honestly, after going to the National Gallery and seeing all the greats - Van Gogh, Monet and Degas seeing coiles of rope at the Tate was very anticlimatic. The main reason I wanted to go is because the Tate used to be a power station (First pic above) and it's really cool to walk in on the main floor down the ramp - pictured above. But, it was under construction while we were there so we had to go in a side door - and, look at coiles of rope that's art.....

We also went to Westminster Abby (First pic above) which is probably one of the most amazing places I've ever been in. It's a must-see if you ever go to London. The next pic is of the Parliment and of course the Big Ben clock tower. We toured the Parliment but sadly the clock tower was being worked on while we were there (I guess the clock stopped ticking a few months back and they were fixing it).

And, the Tower of London (in the background is the largest vibrator in the world - err, the Swiss Tower, I mean) and we also saw the very first female Beefeater inducted into the Tower's fold. Rock on,
lady!
Then, as long as we're on the castle thing we went on to Windsor Castle (above). It was basically a day trip out of London on a 1/2 train ride. After touring the Castle we walked around and shopped in the town of Windsor and it was a great little town!

We took in the show "We will Rock you" one night that had dinner included in our tickets at a very nice restaurant. The show was great! It had a lot of Queens music in it and made me want to dig out my greatest hits cd once home.

And, unlike our Paris bus fiasco we managed to purchase open air bus tour tickets very easily and actually BOARD the bus and see lots of things! The bus had an audio tour that went with it and you simply plugged in your headphones provided and listened while it took you all over town.
Of course we had to do the famous Harrod's while there! I got lost for days in this place and found out too soon that most of the things for sale here were the equivalent to my mortgage payment!

All in all it was a great trip with the only letdown being that I won Prince tickets on Ebay weeks before I left and never recieved them in the mail. That was very heartbreaking for me as I was really looking forward to that and paid a lot of $ for them to boot! I guess Prince it just not meant to be.

Reflections on a Saturday

I stayed home all day and just cleaned the house. I have motorcycle homework to do that I still have not even started and the bathrooms still need cleaning.

Vacuuming up the amount of cat hair from the floor, leather couches (thank goddess for leather) and baseboards was probably enough to amount to another cat! When you have two felines that shed as much as mine your life is devoted to cleaning up hair and barf. Yes, you take an oath upon cat ownership "I being of somewhat sound mind NOW do solemnly swear to clean hair off of everything I own and mop up barf the rest of my life til death do us part". It's true. I have three rooms in my house that I keep the door closed so the cats cannot get in because I would like some part of my life free of cat hair. But, that doesn't stop the rest of the house from looking like a cyclone with hair dust tumble-weeds blowing across the floor. Or black smudges on every white appliance in my kitchen from them rubbing their little faces on them.

Also, I have noticed is that I never really watch tv during the week and when I do go to turn on the game when I am rarely home I like for my cable service TO WORK! Grrrrrr - multiple phone calls to the cable company much to no avail. Not even my cable modem works and I am surfing off some unknown wireless signal - thank you whomever you are.

I am using the excuse of not wanting to go out because my buddy K is roaring up at 6 a.m. tomorrow morning to go to the races and I need my beauty sleep and also that this is the most dangerous weekend for driving. Coming home from work on Friday I noticed the cops in my neighborhood were pulling people over left and right. I made a mental note to not be driving at all at night this weekend and with any alcohol what-so-ever in my system. Lets skip the "But, I only had one beer an hour ago and one drink per hour, officer" Uh-yeah-NO!

So, I'm at home with a fledging signal on one tv showing the UGA game and the other tv I'm watching queer as folk having a beer. I need to multitask when watching football even though it's nowhere near as boring as baseball!
B is at her folks lake cabin and is beside herself because since Cingular sold out to AT&T there is hardly any signal up there - not even enough for her to call me. When she does it's "Hello, hello? CAN YOU HEAR ME?" This, I've found after about 5 attempts annoys me to no end and I feel the need for another beer. (Good thing I'm drinking at the crib!) I shout "HONEY JUST TEXT ME!" and hang up.

Packing for London I have no idea what to take. I have a sweater packed, my raincoat, and a pair of black pants. Although, I hate wearing pants. I prefer jeans at all times. I know the rest I will pack is jeans and t-shirts and call it a day. I try not to stress out about my flight. I know I will take my magic calming pills with me so I won't have anxiety or everyone around me getting the HELL on my nerves. (which I should have done on this trip)

It's good that I'm going to the motorcycle races tomorrow with my buddy K. Another day at home alone and I would be climbing the walls! I've been looking at my bike all day looking forward to riding for once that's not work related. Buddy D will be up there, too. It should be good. Unless it rains....

That is all for now! Have a safe weekend! Don't drink and drive!
